About me

My name is Roxane Hugues, I am a professional Interpreter and Translator. I am a native French speaker, bilingual in French and English. I started my linguistic journey by studying for a BA Joint Honours English (Linguistics and Literature) & Hispanic Studies (Spanish&Portuguese) at the University of Nottingham.

While studying languages, I also studied the equivalent of an MA Diplomacy to specialise in International Relations and Foreign Affairs, subjects which I find fascinating.

After graduating, I continued on the same path with an MA in Conference Interpreting and Translation Studies (French<>English) at the University of Leeds. The programme is recognised by the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC).

I have been working as a freelance Interpreter and Translator since, on varied subjects ranging from Town Centre Management and business meetings to African socialism, including Photography and Oenology.

I have extensive experience in the wine and medical/pharmaceutical industries as well as cosmetics. I am ready to travel and actively looking for interpreting and translation opportunities. Full driving licence and DBS check.

I am also an Affiliate member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI, UK).
